Romans 9:1-5
This is the grief that Paul feels for his fellow Jews.
Romans 9:6-13
To be part of God's family does not necessitate being a blood descendant of Abraham.
And being a blood descendant of Abraham does not guarantee being a part of God's family.
Romans 9:13 from Malachi 1:2-3 - God loved Jacob, but hated Esau.
Paul as Malachi wants Israel to come back to its first true love.
God loved Israel, but Israel failed to live up to its end of the relationship.
Return, repent.
Romans 9:14-24
Is God unjust?
Be careful that we don't place our standards on God.
Romans 9:15, 17
In the midst of human rebellion, God's plans will still go on as God will prove to be faithful to his promises.
Romans 9:25-29
God is pruning Israel to find those who truly love him.
Romans 9:30-10:4
Pursuing, obtaining, goal - these are race images.
We are all running a race.
Are we running for our own goals or do we have our eyes on Jesus?
