But it isn't as the trespass, so also the gift. (Romans 5:15)

It's not as if the 2 are polar opposites, are 2 equal halves of a whole.

Jesus is the victor.  Jesus defeated sin on the cross.  Any power sin has is power we give to it.

And Paul at the beginning of this new section on Hope wants everyone to understand their identity in Christ.

The law came in alongside, so that the trespass might be filled out to its full extent. (Romans 5:20)
